Purdue Convos announces Randy Travis concert

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue Convocations announced today (Friday, 7/21) that country superstar Randy Travis will play the Elliott Hall of Music on Friday, Sept. 29 at 8 p.m. An opening act has yet to be announced.

Beginning with the release of his "Storms of Life" compact disc in 1986, Travis produced a long string of country chart-toppers and by the end of the decade, his album sales exceeded 13 million copies.

In 1997, Travis was the first artist to sign with the newly formed DreamWorks Records label in Nashville. "A Man Ain't Made of Stone," his second album for DreamWorks released in late September 1999, continues his journey as one of the biggest selling, and most distinctive artists in country music.

Tickets are $30 and go on sale to the general public on Aug. 1 at campus box offices at 10 a.m. Patrons may charge by phone at (765) 494-3933 or by calling 1-800-914-SHOW. There is a limit of six tickets per person. Groups interested in purchasing blocks of tickets should contact the convocations offices at (765) 494-9712.
