September 20, 2004 Purdue police investigating racist graffitiWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. The Purdue Police Department is investigating vandalism involving a racial slur that occurred in a campus building Sunday (Sept. 19). Deputy Chief Steven R. Dietrich said a resident assistant on the 10th floor of Young Hall reported that a swastika and racial slur had been drawn on the bulletin board on the door to his room. Young Hall is primarily used for office space, but four floors are managed by University Residences as student housing. The resident assistant said he saw the vandalism at noon Sunday and thinks it occurred between 2 a.m. and noon, Dietrich said. A sign was also taken from the building during the same time frame. The bulletin board with the graffiti has been taken down. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police department at (765) 494-8221.
