U.S. News ranks Purdue's Krannert School MBA among nation's best
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – U.S.News & World Report has ranked Purdue University's Krannert School of Management's MBA program 23rd overall, and six specialty areas also were ranked among the nation's best.

The ranking included the 318 accredited MBA programs in business and management that responded to the survey. The rankings, which will be published in the magazine's "America's Best Graduate Schools," were released today (Friday, April 1).
"A U.S. News ranking in the top 25 reinforces Krannert's place in the top tier of MBA schools," said Richard A. Cosier, Krannert School dean and Leeds Professor of Management. "This result, along with a Wall Street Journal No. 1 ranking and recognition as Business Week's 'most improved' school, shows Krannert is on the move."
In specialty rankings, based upon nominations by business school deans and heads of MBA programs, the Krannert School ranked third in production/operations management, ninth in supply chain/logistics, 12th in information systems, 14th in executive education programs, 21st in management and 25th in marketing. Overall, Krannert placed ninth among public business schools.
Among the criteria U.S.News uses to make its overall business school rankings are graduates' starting salaries. The survey reported the average starting salary of Krannert School MBAs graduating in 2004 was $84,368.
"That we were ranked in six specialty rankings areas shows the breadth of our school's excellence," said Chuck Johnson, director of Krannert School's professional master's degree programs. "We're pleased to be included again among the top programs in the U.S.News survey. The ranking reflects our success in attracting top students and providing them with an exceptional management education."
Harvard received the No. 1 ranking among the nation's graduate business schools. Indiana University's Kelley School of Business tied for 27th overall; Notre Dame's Mendoza College of Business tied for 32nd.
The Krannert School offers master's degrees in management and human resource management; four executive MBAs through a combination of distance-learning and part-time residence on campus; bachelor's degrees in accounting, economics, management and industrial management; and the doctorate.
The Krannert School has 2,477 undergraduate management majors, 372 master's students and 105 doctoral students.
U.S.News & World Report's complete rankings in "America's Best Graduate Schools" will be available on newsstands Monday (April 4). The graduate school rankings have been published annually since 1987.
