Four Miss Indiana contestants have ties to Purdue
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Four Purdue University students or recent graduates are among the 27 women competing in the 2006 Miss Indiana pageant this week.
The Miss Indiana scholarship pageant started Wednesday (June 21) and will continue through Saturday (June 24) at the Zionsville Center for the Performing Arts.
Stephanie Larkin of Auburn, Ala., currently holds the title of Miss Purdue. She recently graduated from the College of Agriculture and will sing for the talent portion of the pageant. Larkin's platform is colon cancer awareness.
Samantha Steckloff of Farmington Hills, Mich., currently holds the title of Miss Duneland. She recently graduated from the College of Liberal Arts and will sing for the talent portion of the pageant. Steckloff's platform is involving and empowering youth through the creation of municipal youth councils.
Kelli Hoffman of Columbia City, Ind., currently holds the title of Miss Huntington. She is a sophomore in the College of Agriculture and will sing for the talent portion of the pageant. Hoffman's platform is increasing awareness for children with disabilities.
Amy Pflugshaupt of Hamlet, Ind., currently holds the title of Miss Starke County. She is a junior in the College of Agriculture and will dance for the talent portion of the pageant. Pflugshaupt's platform is empowering the world through reading.
Miss Indiana travels throughout the state raising scholarship money, advocating her platform and representing the Miss Indiana Scholarship Organization. She will represent Indiana at the Miss America pageant in January in Las Vegas.
