Development services director named an associate VP for advancement
Greg Kapp, who has been at Purdue since 1993, has been responsible for oversight of donor and alumni information systems, donor services, annual giving, research and the President's Council. In his new role, Kapp will retain his previous duties and also will be responsible for maintaining a portfolio of fund-raising contacts with major donors and prospects. Additionally, he will oversee Purdue's Campaign Chicago and will be assigned other duties. "Greg has a positive, special kind of customer-driven attitude that has served to inspire not only his staff, but also donors throughout the years of the Campaign for Purdue," said Murray Blackwelder, senior vice president for advancement. "Maintaining strong donor relations is key to the success of any fund-raising activity, and Greg undoubtedly deserves much of the credit for keeping and enhancing these relationships. "He will play an important role as we bring the Campaign for Purdue to a successful end and set the agenda for our future years." The seven-year, $1.5 billion Campaign for Purdue concludes in July. So far, more than $1.4 billion has been raised in the campaign. In June, two senior directors in Purdue's development office, Cheryl Altinkemer and Robin Prokop, also were made associate vice presidents for advancement. Kapp previously worked in Purdue's Department of Computer Science, the computing center and the Krannert School of Management. In 2004 he received Purdue's One Brick Higher Award, which is given to a faculty or staff member or a student who go beyond the requirements of their role by preventing or solving problems, providing outstanding mentorship, improving the lives of students or their parents, or increasing the effectiveness of their workplace. Kapp received a bachelor's degree in management from Purdue-Calumet in 1982.
