"The two speakers represent very recognizable companies and will focus on important issues in the cable industry," said Howard Sypher, professor and head of the Department of Communication. "It's a great chance for our students and the public to tap their vast bank of knowledge and get to the inside of what it's like to work in such a high-profile industry."

The lectures, presented by The Cable Center, a nonprofit group that provides education and information on cable telecommunications, are part of a series that takes cable executives on campuses to deliver lectures, promote discussion and dispense career advice to undergraduate and graduate students.

Purdue's communication department has 800 undergraduate majors and its graduate program is ranked in the top 10 programs in the United States.
