March 6, 2008 Purdue Varsity Glee Club to tour Florida during spring breakWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue Varsity Glee Club will head to Florida for a series of performances that will take place March 8-15.The Glee Club will start off the tour with a free performance at 7 p.m. Saturday (March 8) at the Moorings Presbyterian Church in Naples, Fla. No tickets are needed. "The Glee Club's spring tour of Florida is a great way for Purdue Musical Organizations to spread the word about Purdue University and enhance the university's outreach and recruitment efforts," said Steve Schlenk, Purdue Musical Organizations communications specialist. "Purdue Musical Organizations has many wonderful friends in south Florida – some are Purdue alumni and others are friends we've made during the past six years during our Florida performance tours." On Sunday (March 9), the Glee Club will perform at 8:30 and 11 a.m. worship services at North Naples United Methodist Church in Naples, Fla. Performers will next visit the Burnt Store Presbyterian Church for a sold-out concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday (March 10) in Punta Gorda, Fla. Next up for the Glee Club is a 7 p.m. Tuesday (March 11) sold-out performance at Faith Presbyterian Church in Cape Coral, Fla. On Thursday (March 13), the Glee Club performers will be in concert at the Marco Island Lutheran Church in Marco Island, Fla. This performance also is sold out. On Friday (March 14), members of the Glee Club will perform in two free concerts, both at First Presbyterian Church in Bonita Springs, Fla. The concerts, which are at 3 and 7:30 p.m., are open to the public. Tickets for both concerts are available at the church.
