November 25, 2008 Purdue Research Park donates to Food Finders Food BankWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -
The non-perishable food and other items were collected by employees of Purdue Research Park-based companies and the Purdue Research Foundation during a drive that began Nov. 3 and ended Nov. 21. Employees of Griffin Analytical, a business unit of ICx Technologies Inc., contributed almost 1,900 pounds of food. Food Finders Food Bank is a warehousing facility that solicits food donations and then disburses the food to organizations for distribution to the hungry. The food bank partners with 150 nonprofit agencies in 16 Indiana counties: Benton, Carroll, Cass, Clinton, Fountain, Fulton, Howard, Jasper, Miami, Montgomery, Newton, Pulaski, Tippecanoe, Tipton, Warren and White. "The work-life balance fostered at Purdue Research Park includes not only wellness and leisure activities, but also opportunities to help the community through charitable efforts," said Joseph B. Hornett, senior vice president, treasurer and COO of the Purdue Research Foundation, which manages the Purdue Research Park. "Several companies located at the Purdue Research Park already have connections with the community." In April the Purdue Research Park partnered with O'Bryan's Nine Irish Brothers Traditional Irish Pub to raise money for Project White Picket Fence, a Habitat for Humanity home built in Lafayette. About Purdue Research Park The 725-acre Purdue Research Park (https://www.purdueresearchpark.com) has the largest university-affiliated business incubation complex in the country. The park is home to more than 157 companies. About 100 of these firms are technology-related and another 39 are incubator businesses. About Food Finders Food Bank Food Finders Food Bank works to eliminate hunger in mid-north Indiana by rechanneling food and nonfood items that might otherwise be wasted and redirecting them to nonprofit agencies that serve low-income Hoosiers.
