Purdue Dedicates First Field Phenotyping Facility in North America

The Indiana Corn and Soybean Innovation Center is Purdue’s new automated field phenotyping facility, the only university-based facility in the United States. Phenotyping is the process of learning how the genetic makeup of a plant adapts and reacts to the environment to produce complex traits such as growth, tolerance, and yield. The Center will play a crucial role in addressing global food security and revolutionizing agriculture. 

The morning event will include remarks from Purdue University President Mitchell E. Daniels, Jr., Purdue College of Agriculture Dean Jay Akridge and Senior Associate Dean and Director of Research Karen Plaut; leaders from the Indiana Soybean Alliance and Indiana Corn Marketing Council; and facility tours
