English Proficiency Requirements


  • This program accepts the Office of the Vice Provost for Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Scholars basic requirements as described on the English Proficiency Requirements page.

Non-Degree Programs


  • These non-degree programs lead to an Indiana Department of Education teacher license in the area of Elementary Education, Secondary Education, or Special Education when all criteria are met.
  • Candidates in Transition to Teaching need to have an earned baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution of higher education.

Admission Requirements


  • Admission to the Purdue Fort Wayne Transition to Teaching (TTT) Programs requires a Baccalaureate degree from an accredited postsecondary institution with:
    • an official transcript reflecting 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 Grade Point Average Scale or
    • an official transcript reflecting 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 Grade Point Average Scale and documentation of five (5) years of professional experience or
    • an official transcript reflecting 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 Grade Point Average Scale and proof of passing state approved content area examination(s) in the subject areas;

Additional Information


  • Credits earned in the Transition to Teaching programs can be used toward the completion of a PFW MSEd degree in the subject area or related field.
  • The coursework in the Transition to Teaching programs will not satisfy the United States Department of Homeland Security and Office of the Vice Provost for Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Scholars requirement of 6 credit hours of face-to-face classes per semester. Therefore, Purdue University Fort Wayne is unable to issue a Form I-20, Certificate of Eligibility, for this program.
