It’s a tradition 80 years in the making. Before Christmas each year, hundreds of talented Purdue University students give the community an early holiday gift—the annual Purdue University Christmas Show. Now it’s your turn to be part of this joyful yuletide tradition, including a behind-the-scenes look at Elliott Hall of Music and one of the largest proscenium theatres in the world. Attend the Purdue University Christmas Show, a performance of holiday music both sacred and secular, highlighted by vibrant costumes, elaborate sets and cutting-edge technology. Snow is not promised, but Hoosier holiday hospitality is!
The cost of the Christmas Show is $685 per person for double room and $463 for commuters.
Purdue University features a variety of fine musicians every year with their extracurricular instruction in band, bells, and voice. For the past 22 years, they have also become known for their choral workshop, where camaraderie is the keynote. This wonderful week of singing and rehearsing a variety of choral arrangements culminates with a Friday afternoon public performance. Rehearse under the direction of Eric Van Cleave, a freelance live-entertainment producer who also conducts music and motivational workshops nationwide---accompanist Jon Ranard will also return. Vocal experience is preferred.
Treat yourself to a week of classes from one of the nation's leading research universities. This course highlights practical applications of Purdue's findings in engineering, food sciences, technology, veterinary medicine, and other fields. Feast your imagination on questions such as: Can robots be taught human skills? Is wind the answer to cutting carbon emissions? What tools can be adapted for use by the disabled? What's the latest research tell us about King Arthur and other long-gone greats? What's the latest on better pilot training, better plane maintenance, or bridge inspections? If topics like these whet your appetite for knowledge, come feed your mind at Purdue's All-You-Can-Learn Buffet.
