Overview

Spanning 30 departments across six colleges, Purdue’s neuroscience enterprise includes around 160 faculty engaged in neuroscience-related research. This deep pool of human resources positions Purdue well in multiple target research areas within the broad field of neuroscience, and the Institute will synergize these efforts for national and international impact.

Neuroscience is a term that applies broadly to the study of the nervous system, and the field is inherently interdisciplinary and collaborative. Investigators across biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering, genetics, mathematics, medicine, physics, psychology and more, employ a broad arsenal of scientific approaches and tools. Exploiting these synergies across disciplines on Purdue’s West Lafayette campus, the Purdue Institute for Integrative Neuroscience is structured across four target research areas:

Development, Genetics, & Neuropharmacology

Neurotrauma & Neuropathology

Aging & Neurodegeneration

Neuroengineering

This collaborative enterprise will lead to groundbreaking discoveries in neuroscience and new therapeutics to enhance human life.
