November 1, 2024: DACA recipients are now eligible for Healthcare

As of November 1, 2024, DACA recipients are able to sign up for healthcare coverage and income-based financial assistance through the health care marketplaces.

The new federal rule does not make DACA recipients eligible for the Medicaid program, according to senior administration officials, but gives them coverage through the Affordable Care Act and its marketplaces and financial assistance programs.

DACA recipients should go to https://www.healthcare.gov/ to enroll. In Indiana, you can enroll in an Affordable Care Act (ACA) health plan during the Open Enrollment period, which is November 1, 2024 through January 15, 2025. If you want your coverage to start on January 1, 2025, you must enroll by December 15, 2024. If you enroll after December 15, your coverage will begin on February 1, 2025.
