Office of Engagement Fellow


Jason Ware is the Office of Engagement Fellow and a Clinical Associate Professor, Director of Engaged Scholar Development, and the TREKS Research Generator in the John Martinson Honors College. As an Engagement Fellow Jason focuses on clinical and tenure track faculty development in engagement, helping to strengthen the university’s commitment to enhancing the human condition through the scholarship of engagement and community impact.

Jason has been connected to the Office of Engagement since 2020 in various roles. First, he was a Scholarship of Engagement (SoE) Fellow, which supported his promotion from assistant to associate clinical professor. Then he became an SoE Faculty Mentor for several terms before he served in an interim role, leading the SoE Fellowship Program. Community impact and engagement are at the core of his teaching and discovery.

Jason’s work in engagement involves working with non-profit organizations domestically and internationally to co-investigate and respond to indicators of community well-being via five different domains loosely connected to the Gallup Sharecare Community Well-Being Index: 1) physical well-being, 2) social well-being, 3) financial well-being, 4) community well-being, and 5) purpose well-being.

Jason holds a Bachelor of Science in technology, a Master of Science in education, and a Doctor of Philosophy in education, all from Purdue University. Jason has served on the board of directors for Leadership Lafayette, the Hanna Community Council, the New Community School, and Habitat for Humanity Lafayette. He currently serves as a director on the board for the Community Foundation of Greater Lafayette.
