Requirements:
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Desire to learn about Latin American and U.S. Latinx cultures
Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Special projects include but are not limited to: Library Catalogue, DACA workshops, Jardin Semillas
  • Create a welcoming and inclusive space for all guests
  • Responsible for greeting guests including students, community members, and campus partners
  • Responsible for learning about the Latino Cultural Center, Latinx and Latin American cultures, and providing guests with informational tours
  • Setting up and breaking down for events including programs and tabling
  • Distribute marketing materials across campus
  • Engage students and campus partners during our tabling events
  • Will help maintain the physical facility in order 
  • Other duties as assigned

Social Media Specialist

  • Able work 7-10 hours a week
  • Must meet the requirements below
Requirements:
  • Experience with: Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Tik Tok, LinkedIn
  • Be able to create and administer original content on all social media platforms such as Hootsuite.
  • Experience developing strategy and content creation and keeping track of social media engagement and data
  • Experience with marketing and digital design
  • Experience using data analytics such as Facebook Insights, Facebook Insights, Instagram Insights, Twitter Analytics
Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Will work with Assistant Director to build content strategy, analyze user data, report trends and create content
  • Will engage with audience by creating exciting and informational posts about
  • Latinx life and culture at Purdue University 
  • Will create marketing materials using LucidPress and Canva
  • Will help with programming, tours, and interacting with various stakeholders 
  • Other duties as assigned

Avanzando Through College Peer Mentor

About
Avanzando through College is a 12-month program that helps first-generation Latino students to navigate the college system. Starting in Fall 2021 and keeping the same cohort of students through Spring 2022, the Latino Cultural Center will implement a 13-workshop curriculum that will provide participants with opportunities to gain the skills to graduate from college in a timely manner and soft skills that apply to future career opportunities. Participants are provided with wrap-around support via check-ins with a case manager and peer mentors as well as opportunities to connect with resources across Purdue’s campus. 
Mentors will be compensated with $200 per semester.

Eligibility
  • Able to work 2 Hours per week for 10 weeks
  • Able to meet with mentees on a regular basis 
  • Able to check in with ATC staff to provide updates
  • Year 2+ Undergraduate Student or Graduate Student
