Our Mission
The Purdue University Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) Center engages and empowers all Boilermakers regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity or expression. Located in Room G988 of the Hicks Undergraduate Library (HIKS), our welcoming and affirming location creates opportunities for building intercultural dialogue and accessing resources that maximize the potential of all members of the Purdue community. The LGBTQ Center is a primary point of contact for Boilermakers seeking to work collaboratively with academic departments, student organizations, University administration, employers, and local community groups. We connect students with the enriching resources, activities and support services they seek in order to be successful at Purdue and beyond.
Our History
Purdue's history is full of queer life, celebration, and resistance. In 2021 we published a chronology of the LGBTQ Center's 10th anniversary, commemoration of the 50th anniversary of queer activism at Purdue, and tribute to the LGBTQIA+ students, staff, and faculty that shape the university’s past, present, and future.
