Were you involved with the Minority Program Summer Engineering Workshops? If yes, what was your role, and how did you benefit from them?

I participated in the MEP Summer ABC Bootcamp. I also was a summer counselor and Assistant Project Manager for the MEP Go Kart Project. MEP allowed me to prepare for the semester by allowing me to connect with a supportive group of friends that helped me to succeed throughout my Purdue journey. The Engineering Academic Boot Camp also allowed me to simulate and prepare for the first semester at Purdue through providing me realistic courses and resources. Being a summer counselor and assistant project manager for the go kart project allowed me to give back to students and share my passion for engineering and go karting!

Tell our audience about what you have gained from the Minority Engineering Program. How has MEP affected you as an engineering student? What do you get through MEP that you don't get from other programs on campus?

The Minority Engineering Program allowed me to receive access to tutoring and mentors to help me succeed in my courses. MEP has also given me an amazing network of talented students that have motivated me to succeed in my college career. MEP also connected me to professional opportunities that allowed me and my peers to succeed as well! MEP has provided the opportunity for me to be a teaching assistant and gain teaching and hands on engineering experience through the MEP VIP go kart course. I was able to help teach students about designing electrical telemetry and mechanical systems that can be used for the Purdue Grand Prix.

What are you most proud of in your time at Purdue and MEP? Any favorite memories to share?

My proudest memory in the MEP program was my experience in the summer Engineering Academic Boot Camp and continuing to stay involved in the instructional team for the Minority Engineering Program. I really enjoyed meeting lifelong friends and being a part of younger students' education journey as a teaching assistant for the MEP Go Kart Project Course!

What are your post-graduation plans?

I plan to be a Post-Graduate Associate Engineer at SpaceX. I plan to support avionic for the Starship Program.

How do you foresee yourself being involved with Purdue/MEP post-graduation?

I plan to stay in touch and mentor students. I plan on visiting to interact with students in the ENGR 180 seminars and the MEP VIP Go Kart program.

Anything else that you would like to share with us about your time at Purdue?

I would love to express my gratitude for the Minority Engineering Program. They have provided me with life-long friends, and an amazing professional network, mentors and tutors, and a safe space on campus. I would not have gotten as much out of my Purdue experience if I was not a part of MEP.
