Construction on West Lafayette campus increases this summer
Starting May 14, multiple maintenance, renovation and new construction projects will begin and span the summer, in addition to the ongoing work associated with the State Street Redevelopment Project.
Projects in the following areas will significantly impact campus travel, and motorists and pedestrians should exercise caution and obey all posted signs and construction fencing:
- Central campus
- Memorial Mall Drive and Oval Drive – Due to infrastructure work, no vehicular traffic will be permitted around the loop.
- Matthews Hall, Recitation Building and University Hall – Pedestrian restrictions will be in place to complete utility work.
- Armory parking lot and Elliott Hall – Parking northwest of Elliot Hall and in the Armory parking lot will become unavailable towards the end of May to allow for construction of the STEM Teaching Lab Building. The northern-most entrance to the Armory parking lot from North University Street will be used for construction traffic only.
- Third Street – Third Street will be closed from the parking lot west of Smalley to McCormick Road through the end of July for road repairs.
- South campus
- Agriculture Mall – Sidewalk and lane restrictions and closures will be present, along with a heavy volume of construction traffic, as a result of the Agricultural and Biological Engineering Renovation and Addition.
- South of Harrison Street – Construction of the new Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital will begin south of Harrison Street between Marsteller and Grant Streets.
- Jischke Hall of Biomedical Engineering – Pedestrian restrictions in place to construct a new addition.
- West campus
- Earhart Residence Hall – Street and sidewalk restrictions will be in place between MacArthur Drive, Martin Jischke Drive, State Street and Third Street for work on multiple projects including the Earhart Residence Hall bathroom renovation, utility work and a roof replacement at Shreve Residence Hall.
To help navigate local construction, an online interactive construction map is available by clicking "Construction Map" at the top of the Campus Map webpage. This map will be updated on a weekly basis, and colored regions may be selected to view more project information. Physical Facilities will continue to host construction information, updates and maps on their Construction and Travel Notices webpage.
