Vice President for Special Projects

Cristina Farmus serves as the vice president for special projects, bringing over 20 years of experience at the intersection of academia, industry and government through projects related to semiconductors, pharmaceutical manufacturing, energy and advanced manufacturing. Her expertise spans academic and R&D administration, workforce development, consortium formation, and partnership management. Currently, she leads initiatives to augment the scholarly culture at Purdue by enhancing book publication and increasing faculty recognition through impactful awards.

Most recently, Farmus served as the interim vice president for the Office of Industry Partnerships, where she linked companies, faculty, staff and students to create mutually beneficial partnerships that accelerate innovation and create lasting impact. Previously, as chief of staff to the Purdue executive vice president, she played a key role in the launch of the Krach Institute for Tech Diplomacy at Purdue. She also served as managing director for the Center for Innovative and Strategic Transformation of Alkane Resources, a Purdue-led National Science Foundation Engineering Research Center.

Farmus holds a Bachelor of Science in marketing and commerce from Transilvania University in Romania, a Master of Business Administration from the Mitch Daniels School of Business at Purdue University and a project management professional certification from the Project Management Institute.
