Developing Operations Excellence in Sustainability: Lean Systems in a Circular Economy

Production systems are a major contributor to global climate change and a valuable source for improving energy efficiency. For decades, the Lean philosophy, based upon the Japanese systems of manufacture, is the most emulated way to organize production.  Until recently, Lean and sustainability have been pursued independently by organizations seeking operations excellence.  In this talk, Dr. Chad Laux will discuss the Lean Sustainability philosophy, strategy, and techniques within. Lean Sustainability promotes a circular economic approach for organizations to pursue excellence in economic, environmental, social goals in an integrated fashion.
