Description
The Arequipa Nexus Institute for Food, Water, and the Environment will host its second annual technical workshop series at Purdue from July 22 to August 2, 2019. The goal of the workshop is to increase the capacity and capability of the faculty and students from our partner university, the Universidad Nacional de San Agustin (UNSA), to address critical issues of natural resource utilization with minimal tradeoffs to the environment of Arequipa. We also use this opportunity to share results of collaborative efforts over the past year. Workshop sessions will cover a variety of subjects and techniques such as measures and metrics for soil health and vulnerability, social science assessment methodologies, applications of environmental sensors, visual analytics in the environmental and social sciences, remote sensing, high-performance computing, stable isotope and nutrient analysis techniques, and field methods for soil and water samples. Forty-two faculty members, research scholars, and undergraduate students, representing a variety of disciplines and colleges at UNSA, will be part of the Peruvian delegation.
