Description

ISF and the College of Engineering are co-sponsoring a lecture with Julian Allwood, Professor of Engineering and the Environment at the University of Cambridge. This will be a virtual event.  The title of his talk is “Making (good) things happen”.  His presentation, about the role of engineers in delivering decarbonisation at speed and scale, will be preceded by a panel discussion that also includes Mirian Velay-Lizancos (CE), Gokce Esenduran (Mgmt), and John Howarter (EEE/MSE).

The panel discussion will be moderated by Miriam Stevens (ISF Graduate Fellow, EEE graduate student). The panelists will discuss the proposition that, in addition to technologies, there needs to be a wider societal discussion about the challenges of decarbonization including costs, speed, societal permission, whole system views etc.
