Elevating the Visibility of Research: Seed Funding for Academic Books and Monographs (2024)
High profile books and monographs in an academic discipline represent an opportunity to raise the visibility of your discipline and reputation of Purdue. It can impact a generation of students and influence future opportunities. The Office of Research and colleges wants to support you so that you can make an impact in your field. We encourage submissions from those areas where books and monographs are the major form of recognition for their field.
Seed Funding:
Funding support of up to $10,000 is possible ($5,000 from your college and $5,000 from the Office of Research). If awarded, funds will be put in a discretionary account to support your efforts.
To apply for this seed funding opportunity, please follow the directions below:
In no more than two pages, describe the concept and include:
- preliminary title
- either of the following:
- Describe the topic and how you plan to develop the proposal for the book or monograph and why it will have influence on your field.
- If a book is in progress, describe how additional funding will enable you to complete the book and the anticipated impact of the book.
- a list the expected authors and affiliations as well as the publisher. Works with authors from multiple disciplines are encouraged.
- proposed outcome of the work – what contribution does this monograph or book make to your discipline?
- expected date of submission of proposal or completed book to the publisher. It is anticipated that the submission of proposal will happen before then end of calendar year 2025.
Please also attach a two-page CV that includes previously published works.
A description of how the funds will be used to enhance your success is required in your application for seed funding.
Each application will be reviewed by a panel of experts in your college.
