21st Century Scholars Questions

Unfortunately, Purdue Promise does not serve transfer students at this time. However, students can utilize services through the 21st Century Support Program.
The credit bank keeps track of all college credit hours earned in excess of 30.  If you brought with you AP, IB, and/or dual credits from high school, those credits will be logged in your ScholarTrack credit bank.  As a current student, if you earn more than 30 credit hours in the academic year (including summer courses), those surplus credits will also be in your ScholarTrack credit bank.  You can use these accrued credit hours in the future if, at any time during your college career, you are in need of additional credit hours to meet your 30-per-year credit completion requirement.  You are able to access and review your credit bank information on ScholarTrack

What if I am not meeting my 30 per year credit completion requirement at the end of the spring semester?

Students should double-check their ScholarTrack credit bank to see if they have any credit hours reported that can help fill in the gap.  If students still do not have enough credit hours, they should talk to their academic advisor about taking summer classes and complete a Summer Financial Aid application.
If summer credits and the credit bank are not enough and there are extenuating circumstances that prevent the student from being able to meet the credit completion requirements, they will need to work with the 21st Century Scholar Support Program to file a 21st Century Scholarship state appeal for unmet credit completion requirements.
21st Century Scholars can use their award toward tuition for a Purdue-affiliated exchange study abroad program. Other types of study abroad trips including direct enroll and co-sponsored trips are not eligible for the award to be used. Purdue Study Abroad Office can help 21st Century Scholars narrow their search to exchange programs and can assist scholars with finding other financial aid to help cover the costs of their study abroad trip.

How does an internship or co-op affect my scholarship?

21st Century Scholars may accept an internship that is required for their major. Scholars can accept a co-op if it is approved by the Office of Professional Practice. If a student accepts an internship that is not required for their degree program requirements or a co-op that is not approved through the Office of Professional Practice, they will have to file a state appeal through ScholarTrack explaining why they took a semester off.  Appeals are not guaranteed approval. Students who notice any errors in their 21st Century Scholars award after returning from a co-op or approved internship should reach out to the 21st Century Scholar Support Program for assistance.
21st Century Scholars awards cover only the cost of tuition for undergraduate students who do not have a bachelor's degree. If a student enters a graduate program or becomes a professional student, they will no longer be eligible to use their 21st Century Scholars award. Pharmacy students can use their 21st Century Scholars award toward tuition. It is important to discuss your plans for professional and graduate programs with the 21st Century Scholar Support Program as well as with your academic advisor.

Students can utilize both on-campus and off-campus housing. We suggest selecting a double/triple with AC and the 14-track meal plan for students living on campus or UR Boiler Apartments. It is important to consider affordable options for off-campus housing so that you are living comfortably and within your means. Contact the Office for Off-campus Housing for support with your off-campus housing budget plan and search. Additional resources can be found here.
