BGR Team Leaders

The Team Leader position is an entry-level, volunteer leadership role that supports the mission and vision of Boiler Gold Rush and Boiler Gold Rush International, Orientation Programs, Student Success Programs, and Purdue University. Team Leaders work to create an inclusive environment that enhances the growth and development of new students. Our mission in Orientation is to introduce and connect all new undergraduate students to Purdue University through student and staff led academic and social programming, both on campus and virtual, to prepare them for their Purdue experience.

All Team Leaders are responsible for actively participating in Team Leader Trainings, events, and programs throughout the Spring semester as well as providing support to new students during the week of Boiler Gold Rush and Boiler Gold Rush International.

BGR Team Leader Requirements

In order to apply for the BGR Team Leader position, you must meet the following conditions:

  • You must be an undergraduate student at Purdue through August 2024 or later.
  • You must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA through the Summer 2024 semester.
  • You must be available to be on campus for all of August training and Boiler Gold Rush / Boiler Gold Rush International activities
    • Specific dates will be provided later, but prepare to be back on campus no later than August 7

West Lafayette BGR Team Leader Information

BGR Team Leader International

Team Leader Internationals assist new international students during Boiler Gold Rush International. The team makes international students’ transition to Purdue and the U.S. exciting and informational.

Team Leader Internationals will be chosen later and will be communicated during the Spring semester.

Indianapolis BGR Team Leader Information

2024 Timeline

We hope you can join us to learn more about this exciting opportunity. Here are a few notes about the position:

  • The Team Leader (TL) application will close on Wednesday, March 20 at 11:59 p.m.
  • Finalized interview times will be sent to candidates via email on Friday, March 22
  • TL Interviews will take place the week of March 25
  • Hired TL’s will have two required trainings to attend in April (dates TBD)
  • TL’s will return to campus for full-day trainings in August, likely Aug. 10-12
  • TL’s will assist with move-in and lead new students through programs and events during Boiler Gold Rush (BGR) in Indianapolis, Aug. 13-17
  • TL’s will be compensated $2,000 in total ($1,000 in late August, $1,000 in mid-September) after BGR in Indianapolis concludes. Please note that compensation will not be able to be distributed in the form of a scholarship.
