New Student Task List

Purdue’s New Student Task List (NST) provides a centralized checklist of steps for new and transfer students to take before they begin classes at Purdue. Your task list contains a variety of important announcements and to-do items, such as accepting your offer of admission, submitting your housing application, registering for orientation, and more.

It is important to check your new student task list regularly, as new items will appear at different times before the start of your first semester.

Why is the New Student Task List Important?

We know there are a lot of things to do before you get to Purdue, and it might feel overwhelming at first. The New Student Task List was designed specifically to help incoming students keep track of what needs to be completed so they can make a smooth transition to Purdue. The task list contains information about financial aid, orientation, and other steps, as well as links to other Purdue resources where you can learn more about each particular task.

How Can I Access my New Student Task List?

You can find your New Student Task List in your myPurdue student portal.

To gain access to your myPurdue portal, you must activate your online career account via the account activation website. You will need your Purdue University ID (PUID) number and your career account setup password, both of which were provided in your admission offer letter. You may be prompted to setup a BoilerKey (two-factor authentication), but you have 7 months to set this up to login to systems such as myPurdue. For more information about BoilerKey please see this FAQ page.

What can I expect to find on my New Student Task List?

It may feel like there are lots of tasks for you to complete, but each item is important for a successful transition to Purdue and every item should be reviewed and completed as indicated.

A description of these task items can be found in your task list. Please note that if you are a Transfer student or an International student, you may see a different set of task items intended on supporting your unique transition.

Please contact the appropriate departments if you have any questions.

Important Notes

Remember, your New Student Task List is personalized to YOU and may be different than other students.

Not every task will have a check mark associated with it. Some tasks are “information-only” (Examples include the ALEKS math assessment and the BoilerKey two-factor authentication – you will not see a checkmark in your NST after completing these items).

Once you have completed an item, please allow 24 to 48 hours for the NST to update your status with a checkmark. Some items on this list (like taking the ALEKS math assessment and signing up for BoilerKey two-factor authentication) are not tracked electronically, but that does not mean they are not important or required. If you know you have completed an item, or have received a confirmation email, you can check the item off yourself.
