Purdue University Identification: Management Tools

The purpose of the Purdue University IDentifier (PUID) system is to develop a database of people affiliated with Purdue University.

This database will combine information from multiple operational systems to create a single record for each person. The information from each operational system will be connected to the single record for the person.

This will create a system-to-system path to allow each operational system to locate a person's records on other operational system, without requiring each system to track keys in other operational systems. While this is important now, with many systems designed to use the SSN as their internal key, it will become much more important in the future as newer systems are implemented which do not use SSN, but create their own record keys.
