The Nexus Institute is co-organizing the 2021 Environmental Justice Film Series with the Purdue Center for the Environment (C4E). The films in this series focus on the native communities in the South American Andes, the environmental injustices they face and the resilience they demonstrate as an inspiration for the world. The first Spring screening is Return to the Andes on February 18 from 6-8 PM

  •  Return to the Andes is a 2019 documentary directed by Mitch Teplitski tells the story of Nelida, who after living 20 years in NYC, returns to connect with her roots in her native village of Peruvian Andes, planning to bring opportunities for development. After realizing that sustainable development requires political involvement, she runs for mayor, becoming the first woman to do so in her town. Director Teplitski and the protagonist Nelida Silva will participate in a Q&A session after the screening. Link: http://www.mitchellteplitsky.com/return-to-the-andes.html
