6th International Day of Women and Girls in Science in the Nexus

In celebration of the 6th International day of Women and Girls in Science, the Arequipa Nexus Institute also featured its Purdue and UNSA women scientists from the different research centers and projects on social media to mark the celebration:  

 Agriculture and Science Innovation:  

They promote sustainable production of safe, healthy, and profitable crop and animal agricultural products in Peru. 

Social Science and the Environment 

They apply innovative social science approaches grounded in interdisciplinary socio-environmental research to collect and analyze individual, household and community data in order to address pressing socio-environmental challenges related to extractive and agricultural activities, energy use, and to food and water security. 

Soil Quality and Food Safety 

They focus on characterization, monitoring, and visualization of the Arequipa Region’s soil health, and food contamination by harmful pathogens. Also, they develop training programs to educate farmers in soil health measuring, as well as growers and food processors in Good Agricultural and manufacturing Practices. 

Junior Women-Scientists from Soil and Air Quality 

The Junior researchers from Purdue and UNSA who have been contributing to the teams and getting ready to join the science workforce.
