Congratulations to Dr. Martin Marshall on his new Emeritus appointment

We congratulate Dr. Marshall Martin on his new appointment as Professor Emeritus, Assistant Dean and Senior Associate Director of Agricultural Research and Graduate Education Emeritus. He was Professor of Agricultural Economics at Purdue University and the Senior Associate Director of Agricultural Research, Assistant Dean in the College of Agriculture.
Dr. Martin’s expertise is in agricultural policy, international trade, and technology assessment. He has significant international experience and speaks fluently Spanish and Portuguese. He lived in South America for six years, where he served as a K-12 School Superintendent and vocational agriculture teacher in Bolivia, and as a visiting scientist at the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil.
In the Arequipa Nexus Institute, Dr. Martin was the Principal Investigator along with Dr. Mateo Pocco from the University National of San Agustin de Arequipa, Peru (UNSA) on the project: “UNSA Agricultural Experiment Station: A Strategic Plan.” The goal of this project was to develop a strategic plan for the establishment of an agricultural experiment station affiliated with UNSA. Dr. Martin’s team developed the major components for the plan based on their in-country focus groups, workshops, farmer interviews and teleconferences. The project’s major impact and contributions is the establishment of a protocol to initiate, and conduct applied agricultural research with farmers and other stakeholders.
We appreciate Dr. Martin’s leadership and major contribution to this important project and wish him all the best in this new stage in his career.
