Purdue Developing Coronavirus Pathogen Test

December 28, 2020

The Institute of Inflammation, Immunology and Infectious Disease at Purdue University is partnering with a Cleveland-based technology firm to develop a rapid diagnostic platform for the virus that causes COVID-19 and other pathogens. The university says the effort with IdentifySensors Biologics "takes a completely different path" than current diagnostic tests.

Here's What Bioanalytical Systems, Inc.'s (NASDAQ:BASI) Shareholder Ownership Structure Looks Like

December 25, 2020

The big shareholder groups in Bioanalytical Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:BASI) have power over the company. Insiders often own a large chunk of younger, smaller, companies while huge companies tend to have institutions as shareholders. Warren Buffett said that he likes "a business with enduring competitive advantages that is run by able and owner-oriented people." So it's nice to see some insider ownership, because it may suggest that management is owner-oriented.

Purdue tests sensors to speed up construction

December 24, 2020

How long it takes to construct a building depends in large part on when the concrete of each floor is strong enough to take on loads.

IdentifySensors Biologics Develops Fast, Accurate, Over-the-counter RNA COVID Self-test for Smartphone

December 23, 2020

Nanosensor technology firm IdentifySensors Biologics has developed all new technology that detects COVID-19 RNA in saliva through newly developed electronic nanosensors, which significantly reduces error rates associated with chemical-based home tests. The company’s over-the-counter self-test, which can be performed entirely at home, is in final stages of development at Purdue University.

Here's everything we know and don't know about the new UK COVID-19 variant

December 21, 2020

With news of a mutant COVID-19 virus dominating headlines, scientists, doctors and virologists say it’s too soon to panic about the potential implications of the new variant identified in the United Kingdom. This isn’t the first time the SARS-2 virus has mutated -- developing small errors that show up and become integrated into its genetic code. And it won’t be the last. But so far, none of those prior mutations have had a major impact when it comes to the severity of the illness, or -- crucially -- when it comes to the vaccine.

Purdue Ag-Celerator Invests in Diagnostic Device

December 21, 2020

The Purdue Ag-Celerator has invested $100,000 in a Purdue University startup. DISCOVER, which stands for Diagnostic Sensors for Cause of Bovine Respiratory Disease, has developed a device that suggests which antibiotic would be most successful in treating the disease on a case-by-case basis.

Researchers develop sensors to test concrete strength in real time

December 21, 2020

How long it takes to construct a building depends, in large part, on when the concrete of each floor is strong enough to take on loads. Engineers at Purdue University, a public research institution in West Lafayette, Indiana, have developed sensors that could safely speed up a construction timeline by determining concrete strength onsite in real time.

New sensors could drastically speed up building construction

December 21, 2020

Today’s Video of the Day from Purdue University describes new sensors that will safely speed up the time it takes to construct a building. The sensors will make it possible to determine when the concrete of each floor is strong enough to take on loads.

Scientists Test Sensors to Accelerate Construction Times

December 18, 2020

The amount of time it takes to construct a building depends largely on the determination process of whether the concrete of each floor is strong enough to take on new loads. In a bid to speed up that process, engineers from Purdue University have developed sensors that, they say, will safely determine concrete strength on-site and in real time.

How long it takes to construct a building depends in large part on when the concrete of each floor is strong enough to take on loads. Purdue University engineers have developed sensors that could safely speed up a construction timeline by determining concrete strength directly on-site in real time.
