Alyssa Yeoman

Background

Alyssa Yeoman

I earned my BSN from Purdue University in May 2022. I began my nursing career in the emergency room at IU Health in Lafayette and continue to work there full-time. Here I was exposed to a variety of patient populations with chronic and acute health conditions.

Research Interests

My research interests stem from my experience as an ER nurse and wanting to have a larger scale impact on a specific population. I am interested in researching about barriers for patients with substance use disorders and the role the nurse has in aiding patients to overcome these barriers. This research has the potential to unveil other aspects of substance use disorder that my future research may address.

Why Purdue?

I grew up in West Lafayette with both my parents working at Purdue and my high school being a few blocks from Mackey Arena. When it came to choosing a school for undergrad, proximity to family was a major factor, but Purdue was also the #1 school in the state for undergraduate nursing education. With the development of the BSN-PhD program, and my experience with the wonderful mentorship of the faculty at Purdue, there was no doubt in my mind Purdue was where I wanted to continue my education.
