HIPAA Privacy Regulations and Legal Notices

Purdue University complies with several laws regarding benefit offerings and protecting employee health information. This includes endeavors to preserve the privacy and confidentiality of the protected health information and medical records maintained by its various schools and departments.

The University strives to fulfill this responsibility in accordance with state and federal statutes and regulations. The Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), Department of Labor (DOL), Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Internal Revenue Service require plan administrators to provide certain information related to their health and welfare benefits plan to plan participants in writing.
