Medical Coverage
Beginning January 1, 2026, AmeriBen will be the plan administrator for the Purdue University medical plan in conjunction with Anthem, Inc. Moving the plan administration to AmeriBen will allow increased flexibility for future plan design, networks and partnerships while continuing to have access to Anthem network providers.
New member ID Cards will be received in the mail in late December 2025. Please be sure to share your new ID cards with your provider. For on-the-go access to review claims, search for providers and compare estimated costs for care, download the AmeriBen Engage App on Google Play or in the App Store. You have a choice of which network option you use. And some level of coverage is provided for each. However, you’ll always receive the highest level of coverage—that means less out of your pocket—when you choose Tier 1 (HealthSync). So, if you’re more cost-conscious, you’ll want to consider the advantages of choosing a provider in the Tier 1 network.

You can search and find the most current list of HealthSync and in-network providers via Anthem’s website (anthem.com) or mobile app (Sydney Health). The links below showcase referral locations for services such as imaging (MRI), mammograms, physical therapy, colonoscopy and more for all three Purdue campus areas – West Lafayette, Fort Wayne and Northwest (Westville and Hammond).
All Purdue University faculty and staff medical plans cover breast pumps and supplies at 100 percent under the Women’s Health Provision, not subject to deductible. It is limited to the purchase or rental of one breast pump per year as ordered or prescribed by a physician. Rental is also allowed up to the purchase price and includes related supplies. The Consolidated Appropriations Act and Transparency in Coverage regulations require health insurers and group health plans to create machine readable files that contain the negotiated rates for in-network providers and allowed amounts derived from historical claims for out-of-network providers and make those files publicly available. A machine readable file is a digital representation of data or information in a file that can be imported or read by a computer system for further processing without human intervention.
