Healthy Boiler Portal’s ‘University’ tab provides courses on variety of health, wellness topics
The Healthy Boiler Portal (purdue.wellright.com) provides a wealth of resources and information to benefits-eligible (including those who opt out of Purdue health coverage) and dependents covered on a Purdue health plan. Part of what’s available is the University tab at the top of the web page, which offers courses on a variety of health and wellness topics covering the five pillars of the Healthy Boiler Program – behavioral health, financial wellness, physical health, social wellness and work-life integration.
As we focus on physical health in June, it’s helpful to point out that there are a variety of physical health courses currently available on the Healthy Boiler Portal. Course topics include:
- Asthma and allergies
- Chronic Pain
- Blood pressure
- Heart health
- Nutrition
- Physical activity
- Pre-diabetes
- Preventive care
- Sleep
- Stroke
- Substance abuse
- Tobacco free
- Weight management
To get started, log in to the Healthy Boiler Portal and click on University in the top navigation. All of the available courses will appear, and there’s a search tab on the left-hand side if there’s a specific topic that interests you. If you search, any courses available that are related to the search item you entered will populate.
Courses include a short video to watch and then answering a few questions about the video. Results of the quiz are also shared so you know how you did answering the questions.
“The University portion of the Healthy Boiler Portal offers the Purdue community a quick and easy way to learn more about a variety of well-being topics,” said Candace Shaffer, senior director of benefits in Human Resources. “When it comes to overall health and wellness, knowledge is key, and these short courses are a great way to increase understanding and awareness to help improve daily living.”
