BoilerCODE is an experiential, leadership learning hub dedicated to empowering first-year students in the College of Science at Purdue in Indianapolis. This program offers a dynamic, living-learning environment where our students are introduced to experiential education initiatives and develop as student leaders in their communities. As a CODE Scholar, students are involved with peer mentorship programs, intercultural engagement opportunities, professional development initiatives, and community-driven student activities. 

The mission of BoilerCODE is to cultivate the next generation of science leaders who are not only highly skilled but dedicated to using their talents for service and leadership in a rapidly evolving technological landscape. BoilerCODE champions the first-year student experience while introducing students to a network for social, professional, and academic support. Whether they are pursuing a degree in computer science, data science, artificial intelligence, or actuarial science, BoilerCODE prepares students to develop professionally, engage interculturally, and lead in their communities.

Eligibility

Any first-year student in the College of Science at Purdue in Indianapolis. 

Residential Component

Required.  Students are required to live in University Residences housing.

Associated Courses and Information

Fall Semester:

  • CS 19000 (1 credit) - Introduction to Professional Practice in Computer Science

 

Every fee eligible student involved with a learning community (LC) at Purdue will be assessed the $200 LC fee to their university account.  These funds support activities and travel, signature LC events, housing assignments and/or course registration and instructor stipends.

Events and Activities Included:

Examples could include:

  • Meals and Conversations with Faculty
  • Industry Talks
  • Service Learning Opportunities
  • Conference Attendance
  • Spring Break Trips

Information above is subject to change. If you are placed in the LC, the associated courses will be on your schedule prior to you registering for the rest of your courses.
