Dr. Lawrence Buja serves as the Chief Program Development Officer in Purdue University’s Office of Research, which is responsible for growing, supporting, communicating, and protecting Purdue’s research portfolio. With extensive experience in scientific program-building and executive-level management across university and national laboratory settings, Dr. Buja specializes in developing large science, engineering, and technology programs and building collaborative teams and consortiums to address the world’s most challenging problems.

Building upon his background in geophysical fluid dynamics and global earth system modeling using the fastest supercomputers on the planet, Dr. Buja is a contributing author to the Nobel Prize-winning IPCC-AR4 report, has built large federally-funded research programs in both the physical and social sciences, created and led complex multiagency and international research partnerships, directed award-winning interdisciplinary science teams, and successfully launched a major capital construction data center project. Currently Dr. Buja supports Purdue researchers building large basic and applied research programs in both open and secure environments.
