Voichita M. Dadarlat is an Assistant Vice President for Research at Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN. In her role, Dr. Dadarlat works to promote and maintain research objectivity, including responsible conduct of research, and public trust in research and entrepreneurial activities based on intellectual property developed at Purdue. She assists the university community in finding appropriate research and collaborative frameworks that ensure ethical and productive engagement of faculty- and student- entrepreneurs with their industrial partners. To accomplish these goals and reduce administrative burden for both researchers and administrators, Voichita and her team develop modern tools for research administration. She works with Sponsored Program Services, Human and Animal Research Protections Programs, Ethics and Compliance, Departmental and College administrators, and the Office of Technology Commercialization, to promote research objectivity and preserve public trust in research. A computational biophysicist by training, Dr. Dadarlat designs, develops, oversees the implementation of, and provides technical solutions and support for, various in-house software products for research administration (e.g., online applications for research related financial interest disclosure and conflict of interest management, FCOI and Responsible Conduct of Research Training, Animal User Qualifications). Previously, she also worked to improve research compliance practices and procedures in the areas of Human Subjects Protection and Export Controls.
Voichita earned her PhD in physics from Purdue University in 1997 and was a Sloan/DOE postdoctoral fellow in computational biophysics at Purdue and a visiting research scientist at Lawrence Berkeley Laboratories. In 2001, she returned to Purdue as a research scientist in chemistry. Prior to joining the Office of Research Administration in 2006, she was a senior research scientist in computer science and medicinal chemistry and pharmacology. Voichita has published several papers on computational biophysics in the areas of protein stability and free energy calculation for protein-ligand binding.
