It's difficult to choose a career path before you understand what people in that profession do. For you to gain an in-depth understanding of what it is like to work in a career, use a variety of resources and talk to people in your field of interest.

Majors in the College of Science

Possible careers in Actuarial Science include actuaries, analysts, consulting, cost estimators, data miners, product development, personal finance, and mathematicians and/or statisticians.

Possible careers in Biological Sciences include biochemists, quality specialists, bioinformatics, environmentalists, genetics, physical therapists, lab techs, virologists, and wildlife biologists.

Possible careers in Chemistry include food chemists, regulatory affairs specialists, science writers, environmental consultants, lab managers, crime scene investigators, and policymakers.

Possible careers in Computer Science include analysts, cartographers, database administrators, programmers, security, machine learning, software developers, and technical consultants.

Possible careers in Data Science include cryptanalysts, programmers, data miners, computer & information systems managers, market research analysts, and big data engineers.

Possible careers in Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences include astronauts, atmospheric scientists, environmental consultants, geologists, aerospace engineers, geophysicists, and science policymakers.
