Mission and Vision

Mission Statement

The Purdue Basic Needs Program improves student success by providing support to students who have unmet basic needs by:

  • coordinating with campus and community partners,
  • identifying community resources available to students,
  • communicating with students about and connecting students to resources for which they may be eligible, and
  • directly serving students in response to referral and outreach.

This mission aligns with the core pillars of the Indiana Commission for Higher Education’s HOPE Agenda : enrollment, completion and graduate retention by ensuring students have the foundational support they need to focus on their academic goals. Our work helps remove non-academic obstacles so students can stay on track and complete their education.

Vision Statement

The Basic Needs Program aspires to fully understand the basic needs of students, the population itself, the off-campus resources available to students, and how students can access those resources.
