First-Generation Student Services

at Purdue University

First-Gen at Purdue University.

First-generation students are defined as those students that come from families where their parents or guardians did not complete a four-year college degree.

Every year, Purdue University welcomes thousands of first-generation college students to campus. In 2023, approximately 15% of Purdue undergraduate students self-identified as first-generation. First-gen students bring unique perspectives and insights, and an ever-changing skillset. At Purdue, we aim to foster those skills.

So, what will your giant leap be?

First-generation students are at the core of the Purdue mission. Purdue not only changes the lives of first generation students, it changes the lives of their children and grandchildren and on and on.
