The L’Oreal postdoc fellowship provides a salary of $60,000 for one year to a current postdoc in the sciences or engineering. Mentoring experience of other women is an important aspect of the application, along with the proposed research plan.

Eligibility Requirements:

Female U.S. citizens and U.S. permanent residents (holders of a Permanent Resident Card)
Candidates must have completed their PhD and have started in their postdoctoral research position by the application deadline. The fellowship is intended for postdocs to use at their current institution.

Research conducted in life sciences, physical sciences, computer science, engineering, technology, anthropology, or math. (Social sciences, psychology, and science education researchers are not eligible to apply.)

American Women in Science (AWIS) National Fellowship Grant for Research Support

AWIS offers small research grants (“fellowships”) to female postdocs and graduate students who need funding for small equipment, publication fees, travel for field work or collaboration, paid undergraduate helpers, and/or subject compensation. Awards of up to $10,000 will be granted and must be used within one year (July 2020 – June 2021). A project description, budget, and recommendation letters are required to apply.

Eligibility Requirements:

Awards will be made to women holding a degree from a recognized institution of higher learning, of outstanding ability and promise in research, who are performing hypothesis-driven research at any institution in the U.S. or abroad.
Application for the GWIS Fellowship Program is offered at no cost to current GWIS members as a member benefit. For non-members, an application processing fee of $50 is required. Fellowship applicants that are not already GWIS members may join GWIS with a 1-year introductory membership at a discounted rate of $40
Financial need of research funding is a requirement for the application. Project that has already been fully funded by another agency or organization will be ineligible. Applicants must indicate on the application form all pending funding sources as reviewers will consider these factors when assessing the financial need of the project.

Zuckerman Postdoctoral Scholars Program

The program provides annual scholarships of $63,000 in two tracks for up to two years to undertake postdoctoral positions at leading Israeli universities.

Eligibility Requirements:

Candidates must be citizens of the United States or Canada OR have a documented status that allows them to study and work in the US.
Candidates must obtain consent from a potential hosting supervisor at the Israeli university/universities the candidate is applying to.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree.

Molecular Sciences Software Institute (MolSSI) Fellowship

MolSSI awards both “seed fellowships” (six months of stipend, tuition and fees covered) and “Investment Fellowships” (18 months, collaboration project with MolSSI researchers) for graduate students and postdocs in any area of science and engineering with research on computational molecular sciences. From the MolSSI website: “Fellows will receive specialized training in state-of-the-art software design principles and tools, and they will engage in outreach and educational efforts organized by the MolSSI. Each Fellow will be assigned a mentor among the Institute’s Software Scientists, who will oversee their software development efforts and training.”

Maintain graduate student or postdoc status during the application process and duration of the fellowship

American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Science & Technology Policy Fellowships

Fellows are assigned to either the executive, legislative, or judicial branch of the federal government in Washington, D.C. where they recieve training and actively participate in policy development and implementation.
