Deidre Bush
Assistant Director for Educational Programs
Since joining the Butler Center in August 2024, Deidre (De) Bush has focused on programs for assistant professors’ professional development. This has included the Assistant Professor Symposia and monthly lunch and learns centered around topics that are relevant to assistant professors including faculty affairs and grant writing. She coordinates various other leadership workshops for faculty and staff. In her role as Butler Center Assistant Director for Educational Programs, De will develop programs that enhance faculty skills such as assistant professors’ success as well as mentoring and leadership for faculty. The focus for her programs will be training and professional development.
Prior to joining the Butler Center, De was with the ADVANCE Purdue Center for Faculty Success. De has also previously worked in extension and research project management in the Departments of Food Science and Foods & Nutrition at Purdue University. In Food Science Extension, she helped food entrepreneurs and co-developed “An Introduction to Starting a Specialty Food Business in Indiana” workshop. Her early career experience was in the food industry including Quaker Oats Co. where she developed a patented farina product. She holds an M.S. and B.S. in Food Science from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and Purdue University.
