Clinical Professor of Pharmacy Practice
Associate Dean for Academic Affairs for the College of Pharmacy

Patricia Darbishire, PharmD, is a Clinical Professor of Pharmacy Practice and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs for the College of Pharmacy at Purdue University. She earned an Associate’s degree in journalism, a B.S. degree in biology with a minor in Chemistry from Illinois State University. and her PharmD degree from Purdue University. She has extensive community pharmacy and disease state management experience, including certification training in immunizations, Medicare and disability, First Responder, diabetes and pharmaceutical care. Her research and practice include establishment of community-based partnerships, service-learning, interdisciplinary initiatives, mediation safety and adherence in community pharmacy practice, and substance use disorder and treatments. Using innovative course design and instructional methods, she created the 10 credit-hour introductory pharmacy practice experience program - spanning 3 years of the curriculum. Dr. Darbishire also established several advanced clinical rotations in the areas of ambulatory care, hospice care, medication assistance programs, Medicare, and academic/research-based rotations. In addition to her selection as a fellow in the Big Ten Academic Alliance Leadership Program, she was recognized with a Purdue Teaching for Tomorrow Faculty Fellowship Award for long-term contributions to teaching, mentoring, and improving the learning environment for students and faculty. She served as Chair of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy Experiential Education section and completed two terms on the American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education editorial board. She is the former Editor-in-Chief of the Purdue Journal of Service-Learning and International Engagement, and a long-term faculty fellow and mentor with the Purdue Center for Instructional Excellence and the Community of Service Learning Faculty Fellows. She provided expertise to the Indiana Attorney General’s Prescription Drug Abuse Prevention Task-Force, Purdue Engagement Advisory Board and has been a support mentor in the nationally acclaimed Purdue IMPACT program. As Associate Dean, Dr. Darbishire provides oversight of student and faculty success in both the Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences program and the Doctor of Pharmacy professional program. She oversees recruitment, admissions, career development, learning and assessment, 26 pharmacy student organizations and a variety of College committees. She is a College representative at national and international meetings, and regularly interfaces with University offices responsible for academic affairs and leadership.
