In mid-2023, professor and student of the School of Communication, Andrés Forero Serna, conducted a research stay at Purdue University, in West Lafayette (Indiana, United States), as part of the requirements for the completion of the PhD in Communication he is pursuing at the Universidad de La Sabana.

During 2019 and 2020, Forero led a research project called Partnering for Prosocial Digital Campaigns: A Student Exchange and Faculty, in collaboration with Purdue's College of Liberal Arts, which was the winner of the 100K Nexo Global Innovation Fund Competition for Creative and Cultural.

For the proposal, the doctoral candidate and professor of the School of Communication proposed as main objective to collaborate with the research group of the Purdue Center for Serious Games and Learning in Virtual Environments, under the leadership of Dr. Bill Watson. Specifically, this was to conclude an international research project focused on serious games, led from Colombia by the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, with which Forero's previous experience was enriched.

On this occasion, he participated by assisting in the review and reformulation processes of the narrative and mechanical components of the video game, within the products of the research project. In addition, Professor Forero reviewed methodological aspects of his project with Professor Watson and advanced in his doctoral thesis.

This trip also opened the doors to seek networking opportunities by fostering collaborations with Purdue University faculty and administrators, with the objective of establishing new connections for possible future exchange and research projects. In this sense, close relationships were established between Purdue's Envision Center and the gamification laboratories of the Living Lab and the Multimedia Production Center of La Sabana.

With this experience for his doctoral training and his career, Professor Forero values the moments of encounter and construction with academics from other universities and other countries, in order to strengthen communicative skills in another language.
