UNSA Leadership team visits Purdue

Last week, the Arequipa Nexus Institute welcomed an UNSA leadership team to Purdue: Dr. Rohel Sanchez Sanchez, Rector; Dr. Horacio Barreda Tamayo, Vice Rector of Research; and Valeria Chipana Quispe, Director; met with Tim Filley and Victor Maqque to explore the possibility of building a research center like Discovery Park on UNSA’s campus.
Nexus and UNSA discussed possible foundation models, establishing a certificate of entrepreneurship, project development, and other important considerations that went into the creation of Discovery Park and Purdue’s research at UNSA. Our Peruvian partners were given a tour of Discovery Park and the Kurz Purdue Technology Center.
The Nexus Institute also hosted presentations for all 21 of our ongoing research projects. A poster for each project showcased the progress Nexus has made in the Arequipa region, including research in sustainable water management, social sciences and the environment, water and soil quality, and agricultural innovation.
