How do I apply to be in a returning student learning community?

Current students who are interested in taking part in a returning learning community (LC) will need to complete the housing reapplication process for the next academic year. In the reapplication process, students will be asked if they are interested in taking part in an LC and which they are interested in.

When do I find out if I was admitted into a learning community?

Students admitted into an LC will receive an email communication welcoming them to the LC before they select a room in the reapplication process. This email will also include next steps for selecting a bedspace with an LC.

Do I have to live with the learning community as a returning student?

Returning LC participation is not required, but students who live in LCs many times appreciate the benefits of collaboration with similarly academically aligned students and many times secure higher GPAs.

Can I choose my roommate to live in learning community housing?

While students can select roommates in housing reapplication, only students admitted in a specific LC will have access to those bed spaces. Bedspaces are reserved for students in a specific LC. If you wish to live with another student not in the LC, you are able to select a room space outside of those reserved for your LC and still take part in LC programs or activities.

Is there a fee to take part in a learning community?

Every fee eligible student involved with a learning community (LC) at Purdue will be assessed a $200 LC fee to their university account.  These funds support activities and travel, signature LC events, housing assignments and/or course registration and instructor stipends.
