President’s Parent & Family Leadership Council

Sending a child to college is a life-changing experience for a family and our goal is to enrich this chapter in their lives. The President’s Parent & Family Leadership Council represents the larger community of the Purdue University parents and serves as an advisory group to the university through counsel, feedback, and support throughout the academic year. Our mission is to build a community to engage with the university through participation, service, and philanthropic support to invest in the educational and long-term success of our students.

Guiding Principles

• Enrich student and family experiences with Purdue University
• Champion Purdue University on campus, in home areas, and within business networks
• Support the mission and priorities of Purdue University through participation of one on-campus meeting annually in the fall

A Message from the Parent Co-Chairs

Melinda and I would like to extend a warm welcome to all Purdue University families as you prepare to launch your Boilermakers for the 2024-25 academic year. We hope it will be a terrific year of advancement and opportunity within West Lafayette and Indianapolis, Indiana.

It is our pleasure to Co-Chair the Parent and Family Leadership Council with President Mung Chiang. We are proud to assist the University in creating space and community for all parents as you watch your children step forward on this new journey and engage in the path that forms before them. Melinda and I are excited to share this time on campus with you as we watch our third child, Olivia, enter her senior year of Industrial Engineering.

As parents our role has evolved over time, and we are thrilled to say that we are excited to coach from the sidelines as our children pick up the reins of the life intended for them.

We are here to support you while you do the same through the President’s Parent & Family Leadership Council which is a unique opportunity to connect with university leadership through thoughtful discussion while enriching the Purdue experience for our students.
