Founded in 1893, the Purdue Varsity Glee Club is one of Purdue's most iconic ensembles, representing the university through music at both local and international events. Known for their versatility, the Glee Club performs an array of musical styles including gospel, jazz, contemporary hits, classical pieces, and patriotic songs, often enhanced by unique vocal arrangements.
Led by directors William Griffel and Scott Hines, the Glee Club comprises dedicated students from various academic disciplines, who balance rigorous studies with a commitment to musical excellence and community service.
For over a century, the Glee Club has brought recognition to Purdue University through performances across the United States and internationally, even without a formal music program. Under directors like Al Stewart, the Glee Club gained national acclaim with performance for U.S. presidents and global dignitaries. Today, it continues to showcase Purdue's talent through worldwide tours, maintaining its legacy as the university's ambassadors of song.
For over 125 years, the Glee Club has embodied Purdue's spirit through performances that captivate audiences. For more information on auditions, please contact William Griffel at wgriffel@purdue.edu.
