STATEMENT OF POLICY

When an Administrative Officer with faculty rank returns to the faculty, any incentive compensation related to the administrative appointment, including but not limited to administrative supplements, will be removed from the officer’s salary. In addition, Administrative Officers on a fiscal-year appointment who will return to the faculty on an academic-year appointment will have their salaries converted to an academic-year salary in accordance with rates outlined in the Academic-Year Employment Pay Practices maintained by Human Resources.

Any exception or deviation from this policy requires approval by the President for all Administrative Officers reporting to the President or to the President's direct reports. All others require the approval of the Provost. The Board of Trustees will approve any exception affecting the President.

REASON FOR THIS POLICY

Administrative Officers with faculty rank often return to the faculty after serving as officers. Salaries of Administrative Officers are based on duties and responsibilities that are in addition to or in lieu of duties of a faculty member. Therefore, in accordance with Board of Trustees directives, this policy formalizes the method by which salary adjustments are made for Administrative Officers upon their return to the faculty.
